We Care California
SEIU Local 2015 is committed to improving the lives of the more than 325,000 California long term care workers that we represent and the individuals to whom they provide vital care.
California has more people who are age 65 and over than any other state, and that number is predicted to double between 2010 and 2030. We must take action today to ensure that California avoids a “care crisis” by being able to attract and retain the workforce necessary to meet the increasing demand for quality care for seniors and people with disabilities.
Through legislation, social activism, support for candidates who prioritize long term care needs and campaigns such as We Care CA, our members are fighting to ensure that those in need have access to the quality care they deserve. We’re lifting home care and nursing home workers out of poverty and bringing dignity and respect to the lives of caregivers, care recipients and to the communities in which we live.
Fight for 15
In 2016 we finally saw California put all of it’s workers on a path to $15. SEIU Local 2015 will always be committed to raising the wage because it helps lift everyone up – giving those who earn above the minimum a stronger bargaining position to also increase their wages.
Caregivers Count: Safe Staffing for Nursing Homes
Nursing home workers provide some of the most important services in the entire healthcare system. They comfort our elderly and disabled friends and relatives and keep them safe. But low standards and lax enforcement are jeopardizing the health and wellbeing of these patients.
