Sacramento Day of Action

Sacramento Day of Action

Sacramento – On Thursday, May 30th, over 1,000 caregivers represented by SEIU Local 2015 rallied at the South steps of the Capitol, calling for additional champions for long term care in order to address the looming care crisis by creating long term solutions for California’s long term care infrastructure. An infrastructure which includes programs and systems like In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), skilled nursing facilities, and private home care agencies that are currently impacted by the growing demands for caregiving. As noted by a UC Berkeley study, California’s senior population is expected to double to 9 million by 2030.

During the day at the Capitol members shared their personal stories supporting the need for long term care to be a statewide priority. They also took over the rotunda to ensure that their call for champions for long term care was heard loud and clear.
