Investing in Fresno’s IHSS Workers Will Bring Additional Revenues to the County

Fresno County is currently home to approximately 17,886 seniors and people with disabilities who receive vital care from approximately 15,774 In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) home care providers. As Fresno County’s population grows older, the need for cost-effective care that permits our grandparents and parents to age safely within their home increases. The information below outlines the ability for the county to invest in this vital program and how investing in IHSS brings additional revenues into the county while helping to meet the demand for care.

2019 Total Economic Impact Results from Increased Wages, Fresno County

  • 171.15 Full-time Equivalent Jobs Created
  • Labor Earnings (in created jobs): $7,532,785
  • Total Value Added to GDP: $12,873,923
  • Economic Output Created: $21,469,740

In order to reap these economic benefits, the County only invested about 16% of what the Federal and State governments contributed to the program.
