WHO:
Long-term care workers (members of SEIU 2015); Supporters and allies of the SEIU Local 2015 community.

WHAT:
Fresno In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) home care providers and nursing home workers—members of SEIU Local 2015, the nation’s largest long-term care union, and California’s largest labor union representing more than half a million care workers across California—are gathering for May Day also known as International Workers’ Day to march and celebrate the invaluable contributions of immigrant workers  who play a crucial role in our economy across industries and communities.

Fresno County currently represents over 24,000 long-term care workers.

WHY:
Fresno caregivers —mostly women of color—are using their voice to speak up for the immigrant workers as part of peaceful actions happening across the country and to honor their essential contributions and sacrifices they have made to our nation in the fight for economic, racial, and immigrant justice.

SEIU Local 2015 is the largest union in California, representing more than half a million long-term care workers (home care, skilled nursing facility, and assisted living center workers) throughout the state. Its members are as diverse as the state’s population but united in their commitment to caring for California’s older adults and those with disabilities.
