Tulare County Caregivers, Allies, and Community Members Rally in honor of Labor Day to Demand County Leaders Invest in Home Care

September 1, 2025

WHAT:
Tulare County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) caregivers, members of the state’s largest labor union, SEIU Local 2015, will rally at the Tulare County Board of Supervisors office to demand higher wages and healthcare. They will be joined by community allies and supporters from across the Central Valley. The Labor Day rally will feature powerful testimony from caregivers who provide essential services to older adults and people with disabilities, underscoring the urgent need for Tulare County to respect, protect, and invest in its care workforce.

WHO:
SEIU Local 2015 caregivers, community allies, and supporters from across Tulare County and neighboring regions.

WHEN:
Tuesday, September 2, 2025
10:00 AM PT – 1:00 PM PT

WHERE:
Tulare County Board of Supervisors
2800 W. Burrel Ave.
Visalia, CA 93291

WHY:
Tulare IHSS caregivers are calling on county leaders to prioritize those who care for the community’s most vulnerable. Workers earn poverty-level wages that leave many struggling to afford housing, healthcare, and basic necessities—forcing caregivers to work multiple jobs while providing critical in-home support to seniors and people with disabilities.

On a day meant to honor the labor movement and working families, Tulare caregivers are shining a spotlight on the reality that too many care workers are still fighting for fair pay, dignity, and respect. Without meaningful investment, the county risks losing the very workforce that enables older adults and people with disabilities to live safely and independently at home.
