Home caregivers are demanding fair pay and health benefits in county’s largest rally to date to address Inyo’s growing care crisis

WHAT:
Inyo County IHSS caregivers, members of the state’s largest labor union, SEIU Local 2015, will rally at the Inyo County Board of Supervisors to demand higher wages and healthcare. This rally, expected to be the largest caregiver action in Inyo’s history, will feature powerful testimony from workers who provide essential care to older adults and people with disabilities, underscoring the urgent need to invest in the care workforce.

WHY:
Inyo IHSS Caregivers have been without a contract for nearly two years, and the County has    failed to bring a meaningful proposal to the table. Home care workers are the backbone of Inyo County’s care system, enabling older adults and people with disabilities to live safely at home. But with wages stuck at $17.25 an hour—far below the $22.10 living wage for a single adult in Inyo—workers are being pushed out of the profession, leaving residents without needed care. After nearly two years without a contract, caregivers are demanding dignified wages, healthcare, and investment in the workforce before the crisis worsens.
