**UPDATED MEDIA ADVISORY**

Home Care Providers of SEIU Local 2015 to Gather at Kings County Board of Supervisors Office

SEIU 2015, the nation’s largest long-term care union representing more than 400,000 nursing home and home care workers, to rally for $20 living wage for essential caregivers

WHEN:
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022 – 11 am  **NEW TIME**

WHERE:
Kings County: 1400 W. Lacey Blvd Hanford, CA

WHO:
SEIU Local 2015 members who provide home care across Kings County

WHAT:
Scores of SEIU Local 2015 members will gather at the Kings County Board of Supervisors Office advocating for “Time For $20”—California caregivers’ demand that a path to $20 an hour be established as the long-term care industry wage floor.

Media interview opportunities are available on-site with SEIU Local 2015 members.

WHY:
Our communities’ essential frontline caregivers ensure that our most vulnerable receive the care and dignity they deserve, in the safety of their own homes. And yet, home care workers struggle to survive on low wages and absence of healthcare. 20% say they are likely to leave the industry, as the demand for home care rises. SEIU 2015 members have been in negotiations in Kings County for six years, with no significant movement on wages or healthcare coverage.

In addition, despite a pledge by the Kings County Board of Supervisors to allow SEIU 2015 members to participate in a scheduled meeting with the group, the BOS changed the time of the meeting at the last minute. This interfered with the plans of essential caregivers—a majority of whom are women of color—from making their voices heard. Nevertheless, union members have mobilized and will be present.
