SEIU 2015 Members deliver messages to Kings County Board of Supervisors to invest in Care

On April 7, 2026 – Kings County IHSS care providers finally kicked off their contract campaign gathering at the County’s Board of Supervisors to emphasize: an investment in quality care that features livable wages and benefits means a thriving community in Kings County.

Before entering the Board’s chambers to speak truth to power directly to the Board of Supervisors, members had the opportunity to meet with Kings County Supervisor Richard Valle outside about the needs for investing in IHSS care providers.

In 2025, more than 100,579 authorized care hours went unused, proving the growing demand for quality in-home care across Kings County.

Kings County members, Tasha Hall, Veronica Ramos, and Julio Godinez, highlighted key issues around low poverty wages, needing to work multiple jobs and personal stories that reflect the impacts on IHSS recipients due to the lack of investments in care.

“I’m not the only Kings County caregiver struggling. Most of us are barely hanging on. We need this contract so we can get to a place where people don’t need to take a second or third job to get by.” – said Tasha Hall, Kings County IHSS provider.
