On August 5, 2025 – LA home care providersreturned to the County Board of Supervisors louder, stronger, and more unified than ever to deliver public comments to make their voices heard. Home care providers across all five supervisorial districts filled the chamber to demand a fair contract that reflects the essential work of over 240,000 care workers across the county. As the LA County Board of Supervisors continue to offer $0 for wages, $0 for training, and $0 for PPE, caregivers continue to show up with powerful testimony and undeniable unity. LA County’s largest low-wage workforce made it clear: LA County must act by investing in Quality Wages for Quality Home Care!💜

On July 29, 2025 – LA home care providers across all supervisorial districts alongside SEIU 2015 Executive Vice President Carmen Roberts, held a press conference outside in the steps of the LA County Board of Supervisors joined by supporters that included representatives from the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, Community Coalition, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, One LA, InnerCity Struggle, St. John’s Community Health, Filipino Workers Center, and the elected offices of Assemblymembers Mike Gipson, Isaac Bryan, Sade Elhawary, Senator Lola Smallwood Cuevas, and Senator Lena Gonzalez!

On July 8, 2025 – LA County IHSS providers returned to the Board of Supervisors to speak out against the County’s zero wage offer. LA home care providers shared poverty data highlighting the 64% of home care workers in the county relying on public assistance with thousands on the brink of homelessness month to month and called for urgent contract investments in care. The County has yet to present a wage offer that demonstrates a commitment to equity, dignity, and justice for LA County’s largest low-wage workforce.

On June 24, 2025 – LA County IHSS providers returned to the Board of Supervisors to demand a contract that truly values quality home care for older adults and those with disabilities.
LA County IHSS providers have been flexing their worker power to uplift and change the lives of more than 240,000 home care providers by showing up, testifying on the current care crisis, and speaking out since the official launch of the contract campaign in May — all while working without a contract since January.
LA County’s largest low-wage workforce needs real change, that means real investments for caregivers county-wide. Home care workers are essential workers, frontline workers, and the care provided strengthens the whole community to come together.

Los Angeles County IHSS providers returned to the Board of Supervisors today with a clear message: “Caregivers are the county’s largest low-wage workforce, and yet remain without a real investment.”
Caregivers need investment to care for the county’s older adults and those with disabilities. Real change starts with a contract that includes strong quality wages, access to training, and more. Members urged the County Board of Supervisors to do the right thing and prioritize care: Quality Wages for Quality Home Care. We’re keeping up the pressure and will be back at the end of the month to make sure they hear us.

Los Angeles County IHSS providers returned to the Board of Supervisors last week to share powerful testimony on why the need to prioritize care in the County’s proposed budget matters. This comes after failing to address a quarter of a million care providers by preparing a $4 billion dollar settlement payout to sex abuse claims on the backs of the county’s largest low-wage workforce. We’re keeping the pressure with plans to gear up at the end of this month to send a clear message: Quality Wages for Quality Home Care. Stay tuned.
Latest update 4/15/2025 LA County IHSS care providers gathered at the Board of Supervisors to make their voices heard and to be included in the county’s budget.
On April 15th, LA County Care providers returned to hear the county’s budget plans, hoping to hear about improvements to low wages, healthcare, training, and other critical benefits, instead the county’s budget proposal left behind any mentions to invest in the county’s IHSS program for a quarter of a million LA County care providers, while the county prepares a settlement payout to sex abuse claims for $4 billion dollars. Members and care recipients spoke out, shared their stories and urged the LA County Board of Supervisors to make care a priority and bring a representative from the County CEO’s office to be part of the negotiating process. On April 8th, LA County Care providers gathered at the Board of Supervisors to make their voices heard by sharing stories, announcing the official start of negotiations to demand a stronger contract that supports Quality Wages for Quality Home Care. LA County care providers including Maria Torres and Rosa Andresen, shared personal stories about challenges they face working on a low wage and called on the County Board to invest in care to make care jobs better jobs.
Latest update 3/28/2025 LA County IHSS care providers gathered for their first bargaining session at the County Board of Supervisors for ‘Quality Wages for Quality Home Care’!
On March 28, LA County IHSS care providers attended their first bargaining session with the County Board of Supervisors, and representatives from the LA County IHSS Public Authority to discuss the process for negotiations and commitments made to return back to the LA County Board of Supervisors on April 8th and 15th to discuss their next union contract and share public comments to the investment in care for all LA County care providers. Latest update 3/22/2025 LA County IHSS care providers launches contract campaign for ‘Quality Wages for Quality Home Care’!
On March 22, LA County IHSS care providers along with CAT members (Contract Action Team) officially launched their contract campaign that included over 345 care providers where they participated in trainings designed to equip caregivers with deep understanding of their individual and organizational roles, storytelling skills to engage, inspire and mobilize workers for collective action.
