Our Care Counts 2025

April 29, 2025

Together, we can strengthen California’s home care system!

As Congress seeks to slash care for seniors and people with disabilities through devastating cuts to Medicaid in order to give a huge tax cut to billionaires, caregivers are standing up for our communities and the care we give and saying: not on our watch!

Our Care Counts. Older adults count. People with disabilities count. We refuse to sacrifice the lives and well-being of our people for the sake of giving more money to the wealthy and privileged.

We will defend and protect Medi-Cal – and fight to build a STRONGER care system by transforming the profession of caregiving, which starts by giving caregivers a fair shot at bargaining good contracts through statewide collective bargaining.

Caregivers will lead in building a path to the future of care: better wages and benefits, expanded access to affordable care for all Californians, and investments in training and career pathways for caregivers.

About AB 283: (Our Care Counts Bill)

AB 283 was introduced by Assemblymember Matt Haney to grant in-home supportive service providers the right to form, join, and participate in statewide collective bargaining.

  • The Our Care Counts Bill will ensure caregivers have a real voice to
  • Uphold the rights and dignity of the people we care for
  • Win better wages, benefits, and protections
  • Strengthen the home care workforce
