Center for Caregiver Advancement

Center for Caregiver Advancement

Founded in 2000 by the long-term care workers who are now members of SEIU Local 2015, the Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA) provides quality educational opportunities to long-term care workers so they can build better lives for themselves and the people in their care. CCA serves two specific groups of workers: In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) caregivers and nursing home workers in residential care and skilled nursing facilities (through the Education Fund).

As California’s most experienced provider of free training for caregivers, CCA focuses on a supportive, experience-based learning environment. Most CCA training courses are provided in multiple languages to ensure they are accessible to a diverse caregiver community that includes many immigrants.

Measuring the impact of our training through research is a key part of CCA’s mission because research findings help us identify areas of improvement for our curricula. We collaborate with independent researchers on impact studies that advance policy initiatives, develop career pathway opportunities, and build professionalization within long-term care.

We partner with SEIU Local 2015 in our commitment to build a highly trained workforce that many Californians cannot live without. We champion high-quality training that is universally accessible for all caregivers, and we believe in education as a tool of empowerment for long-term care workers.”
