Los Angeles, CA – Today, President Biden announced and signed an Executive Order outlining the most comprehensive actions yet to support care workers. As the nation’s largest long-term care union, SEIU 2015 embraces this effort with open arms. The long-term care industry has been in crisis since even before the COVID pandemic, with workers enduring short staffing, subpar wages, and poor conditions. This executive order outlines directives to make long-term care more accessible and affordable, enhance job quality for long-term care workers, support family caregivers, and more.

This executive order is an important step in addressing the increased need for care across the country, along with the need for improved quality of work for care providers. We are grateful to the Biden-Harris Administration for this recognition, and hope that this will continue to bring necessary attention to our fight for investment in care that provides workers with the pay, benefits, and respect that adequately reflect the essential and valuable nature of their job.
