WHEN: Monday, June 9th 2025
11:00 AM PT
WHERE: Grand Park
200 N. Grand Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90012
WHO: Members and allies of SEIU Local 2015, the largest long-term care union in the nation and California’s largest labor union, representing more than half a million caregivers.
WHAT: In the wake of escalating ICE raids throughout Los Angeles County against pro-immigrant protests and the Trump administration’s deployment of the National Guard, SEIU members, labor leaders, immigrant rights advocates, and community allies will gather for a mass rally at Grand Park. The event follows the violent detention of SEIU California President David Huerta, who was arrested, assaulted, injured and detained while peacefully protesting ICE raids targeting immigrant workers.
While David has been released from the hospital, he remains in federal custody. Speakers will call for Huerta’s immediate release, demand an end to aggressive ICE enforcement, and denounce the criminalization of peaceful protest. This is part of a nationwide movement of resistance in defense of immigrant families, union rights, and the freedom to protest.
WHY: David Huerta’s arrest is the latest in a wave of attacks on immigrant communities and labor leaders. SEIU and allies are taking to the streets to defend the constitutional right to protest, demanding the end of militarized ICE actions, and calling for the release of all those unjustly detained. Monday’s rally is one of dozens happening across the country in solidarity. To find a rally near you, click here.
