SEIU members ask supes for fair wages

A group of Solano County In Home Supportive Services providers and SEIU members spoke during public comment at the Tuesday Solano County Board of Supervisors meetings, asking elected officials to pay them a fair and living wage. About ten members of SEIU attended the meeting, clad in purple T-shirts.

Lupe Gutierrez, an IHSS provider for her 91-year-old mother-in-law, said she has had to take on two other jobs in order to pay rent. Her mother-in-law has dementia, often forgets to hydrate, and has experienced vertigo and fluid in her lungs. Still, Gutierrez said she cannot find other providers to cover for her when she cannot make it.
