Long-term care workers of SEIU Local 2015 are participating in “Good Trouble Lives On” events across California because of what’s at stake for our families, our clients, the future of care, and democracy itself. As essential healthcare providers, SEIU Local 2015 members are standing together not only for our profession and the people we care for, but for the values that define us as a country.
The Trump administration’s attacks on civil and human rights, along with its assault on Medicaid, threaten not just our communities, but the entire care system we work every day to strengthen. Medicaid cuts will close hospitals and nursing homes, slash home and community-based services, drive up healthcare costs, and strip coverage from up to 16 million people.
SEIU 2015 members will not stay silent while these extremist policies attempt to drag us backward and harm people who need care. We’re proud to carry forward the legacy of Congressman John Lewis by organizing for a future where every person – regardless of race, immigration status, income, or zip code – can access high-quality, affordable, and dignified long-term care. We’ll continue to raise our voices and take peaceful, nonviolent action until every working family is safe and has access to the care they need to thrive.
