Los Angeles, CA, April 14, 2022 – Arnulfo De La Cruz, Executive Vice President of SEIU Local 2015, released the following statement in support of Acting Governor Eleni Kounalakis’ declaration of April 10 as Dolores Huerta Day:

“We commend Acting Governor Eleni Kounalakis for officially declaring April 10, 2022 as Dolores Huerta Day. Dolores Huerta – a driving force for social justice and pillar of the organized labor movement – spent most of her early life in California’s Central Valley, fighting for the rights of workers and their families while pioneering a labor movement that continues to this day. SEIU Local 2015 stands on the shoulders of Huerta and others like her, as we continue to advocate for marginalized communities and support long term care workers and organizers who empower others and drive change. SEIU Local 2015 fights for and with our members – essential frontline workers, many of whom are immigrants. We all take inspiration from Huerta as we tirelessly advocate for California’s workers to get the respect, protections, benefits, and wages that they deserve.”
