I pledge to stand with the caregivers of SEIU Local 2015!

Americans are living longer, more medically complex lives, and the need for long-term care will touch every individual and family in the coming years. Whether someone needs care for themselves, a family requires a helping hand in caring for a loved one, or a caregiver is overworked and underappreciated–a bold policy plan to address these issues is paramount to a dignified and equitable long term care system. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown how essential nursing home and home care workers are in keeping our vulnerable family members and communities safe. It is due time a federal plan is laid out to support the caregiving workforce and expand access to care for those who have been excluded historically.

I pledge to stand with the caregivers of SEIU Local 2015 in lifting up the Biden-Harris presidential campaign’s policy plan for long term care as stated in “The Biden Plan for Mobilizing American Talent and Heart to Create a 21st Century Caregiving and Education Workforce,” and hold the Biden Administration accountable to the promises made within this plan.

As part of my support for caregivers, I pledge to assist the Biden Administration in:

  1. Expanding access to a broad array of long-term services and supports in local settings that are cost effective; and,
  2. Treat caregivers with respect and dignity by paying them the wages and benefits they deserve, providing training and career ladders, as well as providing them an opportunity to form and/or join a union to collectively bargain and protect their fundamental work-related rights.
