At the end of February, we started bargaining for a new and improved union contract for Yuba IHSS providers. Through this process, we have the opportunity to increase wages, improve benefits, secure funds for training & equipment we need to do our jobs, and raise standards for Yuba caregivers and those we care for.
Meet the Yuba IHSS providers who will represent you at the bargaining table:
Audrey Williams has been an IHSS provider for 8 years and currently cares for her mother who has a disability.
“I know our voices can make a difference, and I know the more caregiver voices we have the bigger change we can create!”
Brenda Garner has been an IHSS provider for 15 years and currently cares for her grandson who is on the autism spectrum.
“Food, gas, and rent prices are just too d*** high. We all need to stand together to win a thriving wage in our next contract.”
Danae Katherine McKee has been an IHSS provider for 8 years and cares for her 10 year old daughter who was in an accident at 14 months old.
“We need higher wages and PTO to help us live a little easier, and we all need to join the fight to make that happen in our next contract!”
Tracy Hammond has been an IHSS provider for 15 years and currently cares for her 26 year old daughter with Down Syndrome.
“I am committed to fighting for a strong contract to help improve our jobs, and I hope more providers join us to show Yuba Supervisors that we mean business.”
Our first bargaining session showed us that Yuba Supervisors are willing to listen to IHSS providers talk about what’s needed to improve the quality of care in our community. Yuba Supervisors need to hear from providers like you and me about our experiences and why we need better wages, benefits, and easier access to PPE.
Thankfully, there’s an opportunity for us to share our stories during our campaign launch at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, March 26th!

What: Coffee and donuts will be served outside the Yuba County Government Center. The Board of Supervisors meeting will begin promptly at 9 a.m. IHSS providers and recipients will have an opportunity to share our hopes for our next union contract!
