Complete the sentence.  There are some examples below, but this should be individualized. Why are you voting? Why is voting important to you?  Why does this election matter? The video should be focused on voting and the election and not specific to one candidate or campaign.

  1. Start by introducing yourself. “I’m Maria Gomez, a CNA in Oakland, CA,” or “I’m Rose and I’m a home care worker in Los Angeles, CA.”
  2. Address one or more of the following:
    • My vote is essential because…
    • I’m voting (early) because…
    • I’m voting (early) because…

Remember

  • The video does not have to have a professional appearance; however, try to make sure your face is well-lit/visible and that we can hear what you are saying. This may require moving to a quieter or brighter location.
  • If possible, leave 5 extra seconds at the beginning and the end of the video for editing purposes.
  • For HIPPA reasons, do not include any resident, patient, or consumer names in the video.
  • It’s a good idea to try making the video 2 or 3 times.

Examples:

My vote is essential because…

  • I’m a care provider. I took care of our most vulnerable community during the COVID pandemic that still ravages our nation. 
  • As a nursing home worker/homecare worker/ caregiver, I’m fed up that I’m being treated as a sacrificial worker.

I’m voting (early) because…

  • Lives and livelihoods are at stake.
  • We need to elect lawmakers that respect the work we do.
  • I’m a single mother, I want my kids to be able to go to college and have a bright future. 

I’m voting (early) because…

  • Long term care matters.
  • My community is fed up because we are providing for the most vulnerable and treated as sacrificial.
