Mission Statement

SEIU 2015’s mission is to achieve Justice for All through its Justice Agenda.  One of the pillars of this Justice Agenda is to improve the standard of living of our members and their families.  In order to assist members who have experienced an economic hardship, SEIU 2015 has an assistance program which strives to aid members who have fallen on a hardship.

Here is how the program works:

Members Who Qualify

A Member who has kept current on their dues for at least the last nine months or has faithfully paid their dues at least 18 out of the last 24 months are eligible to apply for the benefit, provided they are in good standing at the time of applying.

The Amount Available

A maximum benefit of up to $1,000 is available and can be accessed twice within a 24 month period. The Benefit is available until the amount budgeted for the year is exhausted. Hardship assistance is not guaranteed.

Items Covered

The benefit is meant to be used to provide assistance related to rent, utilities, funeral expenses, major auto repairs and the like. Benefits are not paid to the member, but to landlords, utilities, cemeteries, auto shops and other vendors.

How a Member Applies

Members wishing to be considered for assistance MUST call the Member Action Center (MAC) at 855-810-2015. Members who are eligible for the benefit will need to provide the following:

  1. Current ID, that is not expired
  2. Address (must match ID)
  3. Documentations that support the request. Examples may include actual bills and invoices related to request, an Eviction notice or rental lease, billing statement from Utility companies Funeral Service invoice, auto repair bill or invoice, etc., past due bills 
  4. Statement Letter which explains the nature of the emergency

How Your Application is approved

Once the documents have been collected and membership status has been verified, it is then placed before the Hardship Fund Member Committee. The Members of the committee will review to make sure the guidelines have been met and submits his/her approvals.
