Los Angeles, CA — Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 2015 President April Verrett, released the following statement regarding the state’s partnership with CVS and Walgreens to distribute vaccines in nursing homes across the state.
“As we head into a dark winter with COVID case rates continuing to grow, we all recognize the urgent need to ensure rapid vaccination, beginning with the nation’s most vulnerable, the communities most devastated – all too often poor communities of color – and those essential workers on the frontlines fighting the virus.
Any successful vaccination campaign will need to rely on credible voices and organizations in these most affected populations to ensure trust is built in the vaccine and that any lingering concerns are fully addressed. SEIU Local 2015 stands ready to join with local, state and national governments and employers to help reach into these most affected communities in a concerted effort to eradicate the virus.”
